Your Serlumé candle is a handcrafted experience designed to transform your space. To preserve its artisanal quality and ensure a clean, lasting burn, please follow these care guidelines.
Setting the Scene
Before lighting your candle, ensure its environment is as refined as the scent itself:
• Surface Safety: Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
• Protect Your Decor: Use a tray or stand to protect delicate materials like wood or stone.
• Clearance: Keep the flame away from drafts, curtains, and flammable objects.
• Safe Distance: Maintain at least 10 cm / 4 inches between multiple burning candles.
• Supervision: Always keep candles out of reach of children and pets, and never leave a lit candle unattended.
The Ritual of the First Burn
The first time you light your Serlumé candle is the most important.
• The Memory Burn: Allow the candle to burn until the entire top surface is a uniform pool of liquid wax (approximately 4 hours). This "memory" prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
• Lighting: We recommend using a long match to light the wick safely and elegantly.
Savoring the Glow
To maintain the integrity of the wax and the clarity of the fragrance:
• Duration: After the initial burn, do not exceed 4 hours of continuous burn time.
• Stability: Do not move the candle while it is lit or while the wax is still liquid.
• Drafts: Keep the candle away from open windows or fans to prevent uneven burning or soot.
Maintaining the Flame
Proper maintenance ensures each subsequent light is as perfect as the first:
• Extinguishing: Use a candle snuffer to put out the flame. This prevents wax from splashing and minimizes smoke.
• Trim the Wick: Before every relighting, trim the wick to 6 mm / 1/4 inch. This prevents the flame from becoming too large and reduces soot.
• Re-center: While the wax is still soft, gently re-center the wick if it has shifted.
Preserving the Experience
• The Final Chapter: To protect the vessel, stop burning your candle when only 5 mm / 1/4 inch of wax remains or the metal wick base becomes visible.
• Storage: Store your candle in a cool, dry place (15°C–25°C / 59°F–77°F) away from direct sunlight. This prevents discoloration and helps the wax retain its fragrance.
• Refresh: We recommend briefly airing out your room after the candle has been extinguished to let the lingering notes settle.
